How I Found My Workout Buddy on Connections

I never thought I’d be a “workout person.”

At 280 pounds, the gym felt like the last place I belonged. Everyone seemed to know what they were doing. I’d walk in, feel out of place, and leave after 20 minutes telling myself I’d try again tomorrow.

Tomorrow kept getting pushed back.

Then I joined Connections through EatTheWeightOff and posted something simple in my profile:

“Looking for someone to keep me accountable. I’m not fast. I’m not perfect. But I show up.”

Within three days Sarah messaged me. She was 40 miles away but we started doing virtual workouts together every Tuesday and Thursday morning over video call.

She’d already lost 60 pounds. I was just starting.

She never made me feel behind. She just showed up — same as me.

Six months later I’ve lost 34 pounds and we’ve become real friends. We text daily. We celebrate every pound together. We talk each other out of quitting on hard days.

I didn’t find a workout buddy. I found someone who gets it.

That’s what Connections is built for.
